Fractional, but fully invested; my life as a contractor at Attenda.
At Attenda, we’re lucky to work with some brilliant minds who help shape who we are and where we’re going. One of those people is Richard, our fractional marketing lead, who’s been a crucial part of our brand evolution.
From the early days of our rebrand to the strategy that underpins our voice today, Richard has played a vital role in helping us grow with clarity and confidence. In his own words, here’s what it’s like to be a contractor at Attenda…
When I joined Attenda, back when it still answered to the name “Suresite,” I wasn’t looking for just another gig. I was looking for a challenge with heart. What I got was the chance to help a well established business grow a bold new voice.
My role? Fractional marketing lead. Sounds airy, right? But in practice, it was anything but. Within days, I was immersed in brand transformation, helping steer the business from its dependable, behind-the-scenes roots into a confident, industry leading presence. The rebrand to Attenda wasn’t just a logo refresh; it was a full on metamorphosis with colour, clarity, and a well earned round of applause.
Now, you might think being a contractor means staying on the sidelines. Not here. At Attenda, even as a part timer, I’ve felt more like a co-pilot than a consultant. I’ve had the freedom to shape strategy, the trust to deliver, and the joy of working with a team that truly cares about what they’re building.
There have been high fives, heartwarming moments (our Think-In event is a stand-out) and some hilariously imperfect ones too, like trying to film a simple 30-second video that somehow turned into a blooper reel thanks to uncontrollable laughter. It’s all part of the journey, and it’s reminded me that humour and humility are essential ingredients in transformation work.
If you’re thinking about contracting at Attenda, here’s my advice: listen first. This team is full of wisdom and lived experience. Then, when you’re ready to act, be bold. Your ideas will be heard and supported.
Because here, transformation isn’t about making noise. It’s about showing up consistently with clarity, purpose, and the kind of quiet confidence that makes people sit up and take notice.
And honestly, that’s my kind of gig.
